|Well well, isn't this a surprise? No, no, not the number 1 and 2. They are boring in their positions but orgasmic to the ears, being the infectious "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen and the hot-to-trot Ricki-Lee Coulter with "Do It Like That", respectfully. |
I'm talking about our bullet into the number 3 position this week, in her 38th week on the chart - "Merry Go Round" by Suzie McNeil! This song hung around the number 11 position like doggy-doo on a shoe and wouldn't budge for weeks and weeks, until she decided that she didn't wanna look up at other artists above her zooming in and out of the top 10 like they owned the place, so she did something about it. She said, "Look Matt. You don't keep me hovering outside the top 10 for no reason - you obviously love me - so show me the love!" And I succumbed. I'll admit, she got me. The song always did deserve full attention and a position to deserve it's rights, and it does so this week. So Suzie, you can remove the gun from the back of my neck - your song is great okay!
Geesh, women are overtaking my chart - what IS this? The boys have to step up their game!
Luckily Jonny McGovern holds off any further fish-smell from entering the top 4, although he pretty much is just a hairier version of a girl, so the jury is still out on that one. He is in with the catchy "#TOTDF"
Kelly cops a kick to the face this week, dropping back but still clinging onto the top 5, with "Dark Side". This girl always puts up a fight on Matt's Top 100, don't you worry about that.
Reba, Delta, Matt and Gotye round out the top 9, and Darren Hayes squeezes out last week's number 10 to claim his third top 10 hit this year, already, with "Stupid Mistake". This queen was not letting a group of up and coming queens hold onto his top 10 crown!
(I did notice everyone chose to ignore the D.Hayes and J.Lo 'huge bottom' joke in last weeks commentary - although the comment may have just been removed by our amazing board's moderators, who do an incredible amazing fanTABulous job here, in which case I do apologise for any confusion of my words that may have caused my readers to obtain a dirty mind)
Anywho, DEV and Enrique enter the top 20 this week with 'Naked', which may or may not be my theme song when I drink too much of a Saturday night
Now, special mention should go to an artist who hasn't been around for a while, in with an incredible debut at number 15 this week. I find it such a sweet song and I believe this artist is such an incredible lyricist and always has been. A nice comeback! I've replayed it about eight times just tonight so far
Also debuting at 21 is Kate Miller-Heidke with "I'll Change Your Mind". Anyone who hasn't seen the film clip to this needs to just so they can squirm at the ending like I did a few days ago
She also gets extra points for calling the artist at number 86 on my chart this week a "Pot-Kettle ****wit" on twitter this week in retaliation to him saying that she was a waste of space. I have never laughed so hard in ages at such a good comeback! Anyhow, I'm rambling, as usual
Enjoy the rest of the chart
